Banf Statue, White

The Banf Statue is a great example of the 20th century’s meditations on negative space. Here, a tubular, ovoid form reaches to connect at a midpoint. Leading artists of the day thought voids of negative space were of equal importance to the solidly carved mass and a method of making the invisible visible.
